My current body of sculpture is inspired primarily by conversation. The works are an interpretation of those verbal interactions I have with those I encounter on a daily basis.

Language used in conversation is translated through the creative process into three dimensional, sculptural form. I want the viewer to see the construction and deconstruction of conversation and the translation of those verbal processes into visual form.

My response to words, context and meaning is at the core of the arrangement of elements. The composition of visual elements is in response to words; sometimes having embedded meaning, humor or my response to words and how they are used.

Most perceptual experiences are multi-dimensional. Rarely is a word so specific that it is without duality of meaning. My works are a response to words and that duality.

Individual elements in my sculptural works are synonymous with words with an unlimited vocabulary. My unique translation of those conversational experiences are documented through the use of carved wood, laminated wood, steel and aluminum leafing. Materials, as with words, have many interpretations depending on the viewer’s experience.
